Custom Highland Home

We are back to share another insider look on one of our homes we've built. This one is in Highland and it has a really fun layout. For starters, the color scheme of this home has a light airy feel to it. Throughout the home it feels open and bright. As you enter this home, to the left is a beautiful piano room. Tall windows lining two sides of this room brighten this space in the day time. Built in window seating provides storage and a cozy place to relax. Notice the trim work around the door and along the walls, this really adds nice character and gives beautiful emphasis to the entry of this home.

The paint color they used in this room is one called Silver Sage from Restoration Hardware. It's also seen in this house in the Master Bedroom, Master Bathroom and Closet, Upstairs Bathroom, and entertainment room. We took this paint color to Kwal Paint and they were able to match the color from Restoration Hardware which was nice. It is beautifully paired with the white trim and makes all the spaces it's used in feel bright and cheery.

One aspect that helps this home feel even more spacious is the open stair case that leads to the upper level. This beautiful lighting fixture adds intrigue to the space and the bright windows from both the front room and main living space are allowed to shine throughout the house and add more natural light.

All of the bedrooms are located on the upper level with two bedrooms on one end and the master suite on the other. This space planning is smart because it keeps all the family together for safety purposes, but still allows for privacy. Another perk here is that the laundry is on this same level, most of the laundry won't need to be hauled up or downstairs.

The bedroom pictured on the right has the two tone paint again with Sherwin Williams' Aloof Gray on the upper half of the wall. The bedroom below used Sherwin Williams' Kilim Beige as the color in this room.

This is the main bathroom just down the hall from the bedrooms. Silver Sage is our paint color here again and it works perfectly with the white vanity.  Two sinks in this bathroom is so nice and the wall to wall length gives more storage and counter space. Very functional for sharing. A door leads from this area into the toilet and shower area. The counters are Granite. This is standard for our custom homes to have granite in all of the bathrooms and the Kitchen.

The master bedroom in this home has an accent wall behind the bed that is ship lap board. This is not a standard feature, but it's always a welcome project. Each of the main rooms in this home have trim that is a little different to give the house variety while staying beautifully balanced.  This room also has a large window to allow natural light to flood in and keep the space bright.

The master bathroom has some beautiful tile work. The floors are a gray Strands tile from Emser, and the wall tile is a light beige porcelain with the glass deco strip to give it a little luxury. The shower door they chose to have it partially frosted. This is nice because it allows for a little more privacy and it looks beautiful as well.

They have a waterfall shower head that drains from the ceiling and the showers we do tile as a standard as opposed to cultured marble. You can always choose to add shelving or seating in your shower to allow for storage and seating.

The closet space in the Master Bedroom is fantastic, there is a window and ample lighting. The layout of the space maximizes the usable space and we custom build each closet to meet the needs of our clients. A closet space looks so much more organized with built in drawers. This may be additional, but it's very functional.

This next room is an informal family room. Family can relax together in here, watching movies, reading books Zoe just visiting. It gives the perfect space for kids to hang out. Bookshelves, and a closet provide room for storage and the large windows welcome the light into this space.
Draperies are a must for movie time.

Here is a view of the main living space. This breathtaking area has drama with the tall windows and loft view. This homeowner has some beautiful accents of color that really add a sophisticated comfort to the space.

The expansive ceiling is complemented by the long rectangular fireplace and dark hardwood floors, keeping you grounded.  Ship lap is used on this accent wall as well. It beautifully frames the fireplace area without needing a bulky mantle.                                                  Having the TV above the Fireplace is a wise design decision. Some people will have the fireplace in the corner, then use the middle of the room for a fireplace. This creates two focal points in the room and it's distracting.
This is a large Family room, Kitchen and Dining room combination. The hardwood floor is warm and welcoming with the natural lighting shining on it. You can see from this picture below how well lit the kitchen area is, they have at least 12 can lights and two pendants above the island. Having extra lighting is always a bonus in rooms that will get high usage.

You can really tell how tall this ceiling was in these pictures below.  Again, notice the trim work not only behind the fireplace, but also on the left wall to give the room variety. This works because the two accent walls even though they have different trim, are the same color, so the repeat of consistency creates harmony.

This area is right as you enter from the garage. It might be considered a mud room, but this room is so functional. It can be used as a drop zone for all your stuff before you get to the kitchen so you don't have things cluttering your counter top if you can't get to them right away.

It's a wonderful space for people to hang coats, take off shoes and shake off before they get to the hardwood. Tile is the best for this space. The bathroom is also quickly accessible when you get home, just ever to the left as you enter the garage.

The open floor plan they have is beautiful.  You can see with this dining area, there is enough room to have this large circular dining set. If you wanted to host an event, there is also room for more tables, it's flexible.

White shaker style cabinets line the walls in this modern kitchen. Granite counters in the kitchen is a must- you won't have to upgrade with us- granite is a standard counter included in all our high quality home packages. They used a darker color of granite. The backsplash is a light blue glass subway tile. The pantry is right next to the kitchen and has lots of room, in fact this layout has a lot of good storage space.

Lighting fixtures are a fun way to show your personality and customize your space. These pendants have a lace-like effect with craystals inside. Quite feminine and elegant, this helps to break up the rigidity of the shaker style kitchen.

The exterior coordinates really well with the interior using both the gray blues and the warm earthy tones. Blue is a very popular exterior in utah, its just the right amount of color and neutral. We really love the way this home turned out and the homeowners are enjoying their new home.
