G12 Harvest Park

Hello! For those of you visiting our blog for the first time, we are Summit Construction Services LLC, a company based in Mapleton Utah. We specialize in building affordable custom homes. Our blog is another way to take a closer look at some of the homes we have recently completed. We will share details or advice about our homes that may aid in helping you decide what you would like in your home; we hope you enjoy and thanks for visiting.

For this post, we have a warm friendly home we just finished this past month in Mapleton. There are some beautiful features to this home that set it apart in its own unique ways.
This is the entry into the home, as you can see it has some beautiful sidelights, and a dark wooden door. The dark wood is functional as well as beautiful, as the dark stain will hide any scuffs that may occur with use.

As an entry, this is the first space that a guest will see in your home, and it gives your guest a first impression of your personal style. The beautiful tile, wood floors and bright paint on the walls shows that these homeowners are cheery and fun. The tile on the floor in the entry is a great idea for large traffic areas, it will save your wood from weathering down over time as people enter with wet, or dirty shoes. The tile used in this space is Lucerne by Emser.

This front room just after you enter, is on the right. These front rooms usually incorporate lots of natural lighting and are a comfortable room that guests may enter and use. Sometimes they are used for an office like in this home. This room is carpeted which will help dampen noise that may come from having lots of hard surfaces such as the tile and wood floors. Carpeting is always a good idea when you want a space that is a little more quiet. It also has double doors that can be left open, or closed for privacy.

Moving down the hall from the entry, there is a large guest bathroom with a built in closet, tub and shower. This tile used in this room has a large pattern, that I absolutely love. This has a sort of marble type of look, and is a high grade porcelain.

We always include a decorative strip in the showers, and tubs to give a more custom feel. There are also granite counter tops, and custom cabinets used in the bathrooms and throughout the home.

As you enter from the garage, it is always nice to have a drop-zone for your belongings. Here we have a nook with storage slots for shoes, bags, etc. and a bench to sit on, above is a space that can be used to hang coats. The fun bright colors used in this room are REjuvinate (green) and the red is a custom color match by Behr paint.

The tile in this space is installed from the doorway up to the stairs. Again, this is a great use of flooring with the amount of wear this space will most likely receive. This entry will lead to the kitchen and living area on the right, or to the lower level on the left.

Now, here is the kitchen, dining and main living area. this Rejuvinate paint will look different with each type of lighting it encounters. As you can see, with the winter afternoon daylight, it makes the paint look like a cooler green tone. When it is used with artificial lighting, such as in this staircase picture, you can see it is a warmer green tone.  Keep that in mind when looking at paint colors to make sure you like them in all forms of lighting that you will have.

This kitchen island and cabinets have a shaker style door face which is very popular right now. It has a more simplistic and modern look. The white cabinets can be mixed with the stained island and brought together with the venetian gold granite counter tops to create a harmonious appearance.

It is also nice to use a dark accented island when using white cabinets elsewhere when you are planning on using the island for a bar to sit at. White cabinets, although beautiful, will get dirty with use. For an island with seating, it may be kicked a lot more, you would see less scuffing on the stained wood than you would see on painted white. If you want low maintenance, you may need to consider the use and abuse that your cabinets may face.

In this space, they have chosen to carry the wood floors from the front entry through the kitchen and dining area.  This is a beautiful wood floor called Melbourne Mustang and has the knotty rings, and vein characteristics of the eucalyptus wood that it is made from.

This floor complements the beautiful dark stained cabinets in the living room, and that is used on the island of this kitchen. In the living room, these built in cabinets bring in the same rich dark feeling that was used in the front door. The fireplace has a tile front with a 4x4" travertine stone inlay to give it a decorative flair.

The large space is well lit with huge windows letting in lots of natural light to warm up the space.

The master bedroom has a fun bright colored wall paint called Clam Chowder by Behr. This room has a nice large master closet, bright windows, and actually has access to the backyard deck. When you have larger rooms like this, it is nice to have a fan light to help with circulation.
The master bedroom is placed around the corner from the living room and is right next to the laundry room. This is a well designed floor plan, since it gives the user easy access to the laundry from the kitchen and main bedroom, most likely where the most laundry comes from.

In the Master Bathroom, we have this same beautiful tile floors, custom cabinets and venetian gold granite countertops. These double sink vanities are often a nice feature in a shared bathroom, and having that extra cabinet above the tub allows in extra storage as well. There is also an enclosed toilet area and a walk in shower. Having a large master bathroom is something we continually implement in our custom homes, they are not only very functional, but offer a sense of luxury for our clients.

Finishing a basement adds large amounts of useable space to a new home. In this home especially, this lower level after being finished off, would be able to accommodate for large family gatherings very easily. This finished Recreation Room has natural lighting and a walk-out basement layout. There are two finished rooms in addition to the main area and one finished bathroom. The paint color in this large room is a calm color called Palm Breeze (Behr again).

The exterior is a welcoming warm neutrals color scheme, with natural stone siding. This home also has extra parking space with the three car garages. After the snow melts, this home will also be completed with full landscaping, which will enhance the beauty of this home for every season.
