Sunrise Home

Welcome back from the holidays! We are looking forward to a great new year and are excited to get working on some exciting projects. Here is one we recently finished.

The Sunrise home is a beautiful transitional contemporary style. This has the traditional color scheme that has worked for so many years as beautiful warm brown and beige hues, very much like a desert sunrise. However, this home has a few things that make it a little modern.

The kitchen has shaker style cabinets. The stain color is Ebony. It really contrasts well with the rest of the home and adds some drama to this space. This color is dark, however, it works well in this space because it is adjacent to the large open living room with lots of windows introducing lots of natural light into the space and keeping it from seeming too enclosing.

The kitchen also has very light Granite counter tops. We've used a granite called Santa Cecelia that is lighter than Venetian Gold, and a little creamier rather than amber colored.

For the main floor spaces include one bedroom/ office, a full bathroom, the master bedroom suite including full bathroom and large closet, laundry room, kitchen, dining, and living room.

The master bathroom is separated from the bathroom and closet with double doors that open inward. This is fun and makes for a more dramatic entry, as well as needed privacy. The ceilings in this bedroom room are vaulted as well.
The master bathroom has a full sized tub and walk in shower. Fully tiled with a tile called Polka Ambar  in 18x18" size. We have done a lot more large size tile in bathrooms and showers and entry's. The larger sized floor tiles help make the space seem larger because there are less grout lines to look at. Also, there is less grout lines to clean, which many people also enjoy.

We always like to add a little character to our bathrooms, so we will include a decorative glass or stone border to be used with the tile in our budgets. This particular one is a mixture of marble and glass.

The living room is all engineered hardwood. The hardwood we used in this home is one of our favorites, it is called Mercury Birch. The floor is 6.5" hardwood planks with a hand scraped finish.

For the fireplace area, we always include a beautifully finished mantle, this home also has large built in cabinets and bookshelves. Again, because the dark stain is in a light colored room with lots of windows and interior lighting it makes a statement, but does not overwhelm the space.

The lighting and fixtures selected throughout this home are brushed nickel for the most part, and the balusters for the stairs are oil rubbed bronze. The handrails are stained to match the hardwood and works well with the oil rubbed bronze balusters. Stainless steel appliances also help the home feel more modern.

In the lower level, there is a very large entertainment room with a built in kitchenette and additional fireplace. We finish every part of the room including under the stairs which is great for extra storage. The basement includes two bedrooms, one bathroom, and the entertainment room.

The basement also has two bedrooms and a bathroom that has a modern layout. It can be accessed (and locked) from two different rooms. This bathroom can be accessed from one of the bedrooms, and has an additional entrance near the entertainment room.
This home altogether is a beautiful transitional space with large open areas that are wonderful for anyone from a growing family to an empty nester. With vaulted ceilings, large spaces that are functional as well as aesthetic, we like to give our clients what they want in a custom home.
