G14 Kings

Hello! Thanks for visiting our blog, if this is your first time, we are Summit Construction and we specialize in building Custom Homes. We love our customers, so this blog is for us to help you decide what you like in a home. All of our blog posts showcase homes that we have completed, in which you can find out a little more about what we do for our customers all of the time. We hope you find this useful, and make sure to let us know if you have any questions!

Without further ado, here is another of our recently finished homes. This is a new home in Harvest Park in Mapleton. This area is a fun new built community with parks, playgrounds, and a club house. This community is growing all of the time, and we are one of the main builders in this community, so let us know if you want to check it out!

For this home, we have an entry way with this built in wall, so as to keep the space semi-private to visitors as they enter. The walls have some beautiful wainscoting trim work along the walls. This can add character to any home; other options with wall trim are to stain it a different color, paint the trim a different color, or even paint the inside of the trim a different color to make it really stand out.
The wood railings for the stairs and balusters being stained or painted, adds contrast and keeps the stairway looking more open and unconfined.

The stain on the hand rails and balustrade was stained to coordinate with the beautiful hardwood floors.  Carried throughout the entry, living room and back into the kitchen and dining, this wood is called Pacific Treasures, Newport Beach from Gemwoods. We had Designer Home Interiors of Spanish Fork install the hardwood, it turned out beautifully. Hardwood is an excellent feature to have in a new home; it actually adds value to your home.

The living room is about 14' x 14', and has an inclusive type of layout welcoming any visitor to enjoy the beautiful space in the bright atmosphere with lots of natural light. Aside from having ample natural light in this room, there are also can lights around the edges, and one fun accent light in the center. Here's a close up picture.

The homeowners selected their lighting at Hansen Lighting in Orem UT. They chose some fun fixtures that also add character to the home, giving it a little glitz.

The living room is the first thing to pass through before entering the kitchen and living area. This is a great place to spend a little more if you want your home to have a nice touch for family or friends who come to visit.

Here is an image of the living room with the decorative partitions. These partitions also help to define the space and keep the hall way defined as well. This is an interesting space visually, and the wainscoting along the wall leads your eyes down the hall to the main living space- the kitchen, family room and dining.

In this floor plan, there is a guest bathroom tucked down the hall between the living room and kitchen. A convenient place for both company and household use. It is also close in proximity to the garage and the back door, a great central location.

The floor tile in this space is one that we budget for, but it looks so beautifully simple with the grayscale tones that is so popular right now. It's Lucerne Matterhorn by Emser, again installed by Desiger Home Interiors. A lot of the more modern type of tile trends we have seen are 1/8" in grout lines, and have a square lay, rather than a brick lay.

The cabinets in the bathrooms are white shaker style. The countertops are a beautiful dark gray and black quartzite. This same countertop and cabinet style is used throughout the home.

For lighting, the vanity lighting is a satin nickel finish and coordinating chrome fixtures accents the gray color scheme consistently. Mirrors in the rooms had not yet been placed when these pictures had taken place, but they make any room feel much larger when used.

Moving now into the kitchen, this clean bright modern look is eminent in the choice of paint color in coordination to the painted white cabinets. The stainless steel appliances tend to be more of an emphasis when you have white cabinets all around.

Of course the gray countertops add some variety along with the back splash. Glass and marble mixed together in a waterfall mosaic give a lot of texture to this kitchen and really add some energy to this popular color combination.

This tile is another Emser Tile. It's called Lucente Linear Ambrato Mosaic Blend. You can see it has a good amount of variation in each tile, and really coordinates well with the countertops variety of shades. The linear series has been very popular in new homes, it gives a fun trendy, but classy look to any space it is used in. This one in particular goes really well with the grayscale colors that are increasing in popularity. Ambrato is one of my favorites because it is a natural marble stone with both frosted and translucent glass, it really gives depth and variety in any given space.

This view shows the dining room, and living room as it continues off of the kitchen. To the right is the door that leads to the back yard and deck area. In this lighting, you can see that the room reflects more of a calming cool mood that is very simplistic. This natural lighting is nice to have in the main area of the home to keep the place lighted without the extra expense of electricity during the day. Small square windows decorate the back wall around the fireplace, keeping more privacy for the family, but still adding a fun character and light to the space.

When the lighting is turned on across this living space, it really energizes the area. The lighting fixtures draw your attention up and around the room. This warmer light reflecting off of the hardwood floor really brings the rich hues out and enlivens the space. The larger lighting fixture is centered in the dining room to be used above the dining table. It will be a fun centerpiece to that space.

These crystal-esque lighting fixtures above the island reflect up on the ceiling adding a soft glow to the room. It definitely adds an energy to the kitchen, complementing the bold patterned backsplash and warm hardwood flooring.

Some great features that this living room has are the carpet, cabinets and fireplace. Firstly, this carpet is incredibly luxurious to walk across. I was so surprised by how plush and wonderful it was. This type of carpet is not included in the Summit level, but is worth the upgrade in my opinion. It is manufactured by Bliss by Beaulieu, and the particular carpet is delightfully called "Perfect". The color used in this home is "Balmy".

The built in cabinets are white shaker, to match the kitchen. These are so nice to have in the living room for storage. They do take away a little from your space, but if you have lots of items that you use a lot in the living room, but don't want them visible all the time this is a great idea. At this point, the cabinets still needed to have the pulls installed. Having pulls and knobs on your white cabinets will help keep them white.

The linear tile from the kitchen backsplash is used again in this fireplace surround. What a subtle but stunning effect it has in this application. It's a beautiful contrast around the black firebox, and having it echoed in this room is a smart design decision.  Repetition is an important element in design. It keeps the space unified, and works best when there is also some variety to keep it interesting.

Just off of the kitchen area, on the way downstairs, there is a section that is tiled. This is where the garage entry is into the home. From there, there is maybe only five steps up to the mudroom where there is a bench with shelves to serve as a drop zone and shoe cubby. There is a picture of the cabinet area on our Facebook page.

There are several rooms in the lower level. A bathroom with a tub and shower, and then a few bedrooms. This bathroom tile is the Lucerne Matterhorn and Ambrato Lucente again. You can see how the different lighting scenarios in your home can effect the color of everything else, this tile looks more brown in the incandescent lighting.

The carpet in the bedrooms and up the stairs are a durable textured plush/loop. This type of carpet is increasing in popularity throughout homes and larger patterns have been used on stairs. At a glance it just looks like a regular plush, but it has a  small square patterned loop in this carpet. It's by Beaulieu and called Adam's the color is Balance.

There are five finished bedrooms in this house, four on the second floor and another one in the lower level. There are three finished bathrooms as well, and more room to grow in the lower level. Here you can see the countertops really well. Quartz countertops are durable, come in a variety of options and look great.

The Laundry Room is on the second floor near all the bedrooms. It has a window over the washer and dryer. This is nice to keep the room bright while doing laundry. A laminate counter top is a standard feature of our laundry rooms. This one has a darker color that resembles granite. The floor is the same tile that is used in the rest of the home.

For a family, storage space is always welcome when we can get it. Take advantage of any unused space in the floor plan with closets. The door panel style is a fun simplistic shaker type of pattern, it matches well with this home's style. This particular closet is right between the master bedroom and another room on the second floor.

Entering into the master bedroom, you can see that this room is expansive. The ceilings are vaulted, and the room is about 15x15 feet large.  Windows are great to let in the natural light in this room, and make it feel even bigger. The light color of the walls and the light colored carpet add to this expansive feeling as well. Having a fan is nice for this size of room, especially on the second floor, where it will accumulate a little more heat naturally.

In addition to the lighting on the ceiling, this bedroom has accent lighting in the sconces. This most likely will be where the bed will be placed in this room. It's nice to have this accent lighting in the master room by the beds.

To the left of this area is the entrance into the master bath. This room has a beautiful master tub, with the tub surround and decorative tile. This tub is secluded in this walled area, making it feel more enclosed and cozy.

The master bathroom has a double vanity with painted white shaker style cabinets and quartz countertop. The vanity lights can either shine up or down, sometimes giving different effects.  The bathroom has a water closet, and walk in shower. Off to the right (in this picture) is the walk in closet.

In the shower, they chose to use this fun white hexagon patterned tile. This tile is great to use in shower floors because you need to have smaller tiles to make sure you can slope your floor to the drain. Daltile makes this tile, and it is simply referenced as a white 1x1" hexagon tile.

Walk into the master closet from the bathroom, and you'll find that it is a large space with a very functional layout. There are ample shelves, and hanging rods to store all types of clothing items.

Every room in this house has a little bit of character, and has a blank canvas to let the family's personality shine through. Some highlights of this home are the amount of bedrooms, bathrooms, and the fun additional details that they have chosen to incorporate such as the lighting and plush carpet.
The exterior of the home also shows the color scheme that they have chosen to use throughout their home. The gray tones of the stucco and siding complement the stone siding as well. This is definitely a beautiful home.
